Off the beaten track but well worth the effort. Only parking for about four cars, but it's normally ok. Steep climb up the first few hundred feet but then slightly less for the final push. But wow what views from the top . Absolutely beautiful.
Well worth the walk up the hill. Great piece of history, views and a lovely location. Loads of information boards and very well kept. Would recommend appropriate footwear as lane can be quite muddy.
It's worth the very long drive and walk to get there. Plenty of the old walls still standing. And information boards giving some history. It's signposted off the main A road, but to get to the parking is on winding country roads. Once parked it's a long walk up a steep slope to get to the top.
Due to mobility issues it took me quite a long time to reach the Castle. I don't think I could have done it if my dog hadn't helped pull me up the incline.
Once there some excellent views down over the surrounding landscape.
I noticed a lot of straight joints on abutting walls.
Apparently it was a Welsh Castle modified by the Normans.
A hidden gem. A hike up an incline leads to the castle ruins with interesting information boards and wonderful views from the top. This is a very important castle in the medieval period and the history is worth doing a bit of research about before or after visitng. Parking is very limited though.
A steep walk up but well worth it to explore the ruins and admire the views. Information boards are great to describe the story of the castle. We took a picnic and had an enjoyable few hours
Great walk up the steep path Well worth it !
FREE entry !! Good history boards around the site
TASTY BLACKBERRIES BESIDE THE TRACK
Lovely Sunday walk around the castle. Such beautiful views, I imagine even better on a clearer day. The route up to the castle is steep and this time of year slippery so do take care
